Everything You Should Know About ECO4 Boiler Scheme

ECO4 boiler scheme is a government initiative with the dual goals of enhancing household energy efficiency and lowering carbon emissions. The program offers money for energy-saving improvements in homes, especially for those who are at risk or have low incomes.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) program, which has been in operation since 2013, is the most recent iteration. Although ECO4 incorporates new components and aims to further cut carbon emissions, it also builds on the achievements of the previous generations.

What is ECO4?

A government program called ECO4 offers cash for energy-saving solutions in homes. Energy firms, who are mandated to reach specified targets for lowering carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency, provide the funding for the program. The government sets these goals, which are based on the number of households that qualify for assistance.
The program is intended to assist families that are having trouble paying their energy costs and are housed in inefficient buildings. There are also low-income or fuel-poor households included in this.

The ECO4 program, which is anticipated to last through 2026, will subsidize a variety of energy-saving initiatives, including insulation, heating systems, and renewable energy technologies.

How is ECO4 different from ECO3?

The fourth version of the Energy Company Obligation program, known as ECO4, adds some fresh components and goals while building on the successes of the prior incarnations. Some of the main variations between ECO4 and ECO3 are as follows:

  • Increased goals
The enhanced targets for lowering carbon emissions and boosting energy efficiency are one of the key differences between ECO4 and ECO3. 18 million tonnes of carbon emissions must be reduced by 2032 according to ECO4 boiler scheme, which is a significant increase from the 11 million tonnes targeted under ECO3.
  • Attention to fuel poverty
The households in ECO4 that are fuel-poor or have low incomes are given more attention. For interventions aimed at vulnerable households, like first central heating and insulation, the scheme gives additional funds.
  • Places a focus on renewable energy
Solar panels and heat pumps are two examples of renewable energy technology that ECO4 emphasizes more. These technologies can assist homes in producing their own renewable energy and reducing their reliance on fossil fuels, and the programme provides additional financing for them.

What kind of insulation is covered by a grant?

For properties that meet the criteria, grants are highly generous and may cover:

  1. Heat Pumps Using Air Sources
  2. Boiler Improvements (non-condensing boilers and for homeowners only)
  3. Wall insulation in a cavity
  4. Electric heaters for storage (homeowners only)
  5. Initial use of central heating (providing there was a gas connection prior to 31 March 2022)
  6. wall insulation inside
  7. Insulation for lofts

You can receive a sufficient offer to cover the entire price of installing additional measures or upgrading insulation. Some people, however, only receive a portion of the funds and are required to contribute the balance. Contact ECO Boiler Grants today and check your eligibility.
